Welcome to the beautiful City of Bastrop, the easy outdoor paradise of the Pelican State!
Here in Bastrop, you will find that business is still done by handshake, and people still smile and wave at one another every time they meet. Our town is place where new faces are always welcome and we accept new visitors and new residents with open arms.
We are Hometown Louisiana!
With a population of more than 13,000 souls, Bastrop is the main parish seat of Morehouse Parish. We offer some of the best hunting, fishing, and outdoor adventure in the state; creating an irresistible allure for active sportsmen, and a busy hub for new businesses. The citizens here in Bastrop are community-driven and work hard to make our community a better place to live, work, and play.
History and culture meet progress here, and the living is easy. The town square is still the main meeting place for events, entertainment, and celebrations. The parks are always sunny and full, and people are very proud of their downhome roots. For entertainment, the restored Bastrop Courthouse holds a variety of municipal events, while the Rose Theatre hosts all our annual concerts! Bastrop is also home to the Snyder Museum and Creative Arts Center (housed in the circa 1929 home of a leading local family), and volunteers lead heritage appreciation tours for children using local artifacts from a bygone era.
Whether just coming to visit, or deciding to stay, we invite you to experience our city first-hand. We know that once you’re here, you’ll never want to leave!
